Laurie Hietter, Principal
As a Founding Principal of MHA Environmental Consulting, Inc. (MHA), Laurie has over 30 years of experience in preparing and leading preparation of environmental analyses under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and obtaining permits to bring projects to construction. She is a leader in the environmental field, and is consistently solicited by agency staff and project proponents to provide training and advice on environmental issues and environmental  permitting strategies for projects in the U.S., Kenya, Djibuti and Costa Rica. Laurie is an expert in the project permitting process and has extensive experience in technical disciplines, including geology, hydrology, biology, air quality, cultural resources, tribal issues, and noise. She received a B.S. in Geology from San Jose State University.
Tania Treis, Principal
Tania has over 15 years of professional experience pertinent to the environmental management and scientific fields. She has extensive experience with environmental assessment and oversight of environmental technical studies, and takes a collaborative, creative approach to finding solutions to clients’ problems. She has broad knowledge of the regulatory permitting process governing energy and water infrastructure projects in California and throughout the west. Tania received a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree in Geology from San Jose State University.
