MMWD BFFIP

Panorama prepared the Biodiversity, Fire, and Fuels Integrated Plan (BFFIP) in close collaboration with Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) staff and prepared the associated EIR. The BFFIP defines vegetation management activities on 22,000 acres of land primarily in the Mount Tamalpais Watershed, in Marin County.

Activities addressed include fuel treatments, hazardous tree removal, and restoration activities to reduce wildfire risks and enhance habitat functions. The entire watershed was evaluated and categorized into various infrastructure and natural resource zones.

The vegetation management prescriptions were assigned by zone. Panorama also defined the first 5 years of activities and assessed impacts on both a project and program level in the EIR.

The approval of the plan and EIR will allow MMWD to apply for several wildfire reduction and habitat improvement grants aimed at reducing greenhouse gases and fire risks in California.
