Organized and held by the International Geothermal Association every 5 years, the World Geothermal Congress (WGC) is set for 2015. The WGC will take place in New Zealand and Australia next year from April 19th through the 24th. The event will bring together members of the geothermal community from across the globe to discuss hot topics surrounding business, recent research, and societal concerns relating to geothermal activities. Discussions will focus on both direct use and energy generation from geothermal developments, touching on traditional and new development techniques.
The WGC will include several panel discussions, oral and poster presentations, and talks from three keynote speakers, including Dr. Juliet Newson, president of the International Geothermal Association. Optional short courses that range in topics from reservoir engineering and management to reducing the risks of drilling will be offered throughout the event. Optional field trips will be offered as well.
